Digital Command Control (DCC) has been gaining ground in Model Railroading for many years. It provides a means of realistically controlling individual locomotives and other devices with a handheld, or even wireless, throttle. Each loco has its own "digital" address and your throttle sends out commands only to that locomotive regardless of how many other engines are on the track.
Electrical track blocks and block wiring nightmares are history for your layout.
But DCC goes well beyond that. It offers many channels for controlling lights, sound, even throwing turnouts if you want. DCC is a revolution in controlling model railroads. Thanks to the farsighted efforts of the National Model Railroad Association, DCC is a single universal standard so locomotives equipped with one manufacturer's compliant decoder can be controlled by another manufacturers compliant system.
Bruce, dubbed Mr. DCC by the local modelers, has been involved with DCC for many years. He has watched it grow and mature. He comes from a strong electronic engineering background. He started Litchfield Station in 2001 to offer a wide array of DCC equipment, accompanied by honest advice. He uses his 50 years of electronics and sound design experience to do professional decoder installs in a wide variety of locomotives from G to Z scale.
